About this deal

Next, we have another bourbon cask-aged whiskey at a much milder 80 proof. Again, it’s a blend of grain and malt whiskeys, also of unspecified age.

Our Service is an online platform which provides Members with information (e.g. bottle facts, market-indices, market values and prices) on (mostly) whisky and allows Members to add information to the platform. We do not sell, nor does the Service provide any option to buy, any alcoholic products. Honied orchard fruit, caramel frosting, toasted grain and an earthy undertone with some bits of malt, vanilla and citrus.

Whisky reviews for West Cork Black Cask

Of the four, the single malt definitely stands out—not as better or worse, just as very different in character. It’s a refreshing departure from the rest of the bunch, but also a fairly one-note experience, with a preponderance of bright green fruit and not much else. In Conclusion: But that wasn’t the case. I first tried the 45% blended Irish whiskey, with its palate of velvety texture and sweet flavours, during a visit to the Dublin distillery and I was very pleasantly surprised. West Cork Irish Whiskey – Bourbon cask (40% abv/80 proof) – is a blended Irish whiskey containing 75% grain Irish whiskey & 25% malt Irish whiskey. Patiently matured in first fill bourbon casks to deliver a smooth, subtle and quintessential Irish whiskey.” Unless mandatory applicable law provides otherwise, your use of and membership to the Service are exclusively governed by Dutch law. This single pot is made up of pot still whiskeys that have been aged between 7 and 10 years in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks. Nothing in the Terms shall exclude or limit our liability for fraudulent misrepresentation or for death or personal injury resulting from gross negligence or willful misconduct by us. It is great to release this seven-year-old single malt which was distilled at the Market Street Distillery and embodies the distillate signature of this unique distillery. This whiskey is triple distilled with the third distillation taking place in the small copper pot stills, stoically named CPS1/2. The slow distillation in such small stills ensures a large copper to distillate surface area ratio which conveys smoothness and really delicate character to the whiskey which we are particularly pleased with.”That has led some to invest at the ground floor - while the liquid is still in a cask - in the hope of making a return when it is eventually mature.

Nose: Fairly indistinguishable from a bourbon, with major caramel, honey, and vanilla. I get just the barest hint of a grainy pie crust note, too, as well as some oak.Based in Kilbeggan in County Westmeath, their double-distilled blended whiskey features a good body with honeyed sweetness and malt while the finish is short with oaked dryness. We’ve had a lot of questions over the years asking about everything from ‘What is the best Irish whiskey for newbie drinkers?’ to ‘What are some good top shelf Irish whiskey drinks?’. Expect a good body with notes of sherried peels, honey, grains and vanilla cream with a caramel and a toffee finish.
