About this deal

The people were well cared for and there were enough staff to support them effectively. The staff were knowledgeable about the complex needs of the people and knew how to spot signs of abuse. People said they felt safe and supported by the care staff and provider.

We observed that staff communicated well with the people who used the service and promoted an inclusive, supportive environment.

Our Serenity House team includes physicians, all of whom are board certified in hospice & palliative medicine, nurse practitioners, registered & licensed vocational nurses, home health aides, medical social workers, bereavement counselors, chaplains, pet therapists, a certified music therapist, a registered dietitian, a chef, and specially trained volunteers. Our Patient Care Priorities We are mindful of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our regulatory function. This meant we took account of the exceptional circumstances arising as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic when considering what enforcement action was necessary and proportionate to keep people safe as a result of this inspection. During the inspection there was an event and notification of a specific incident. This incident is subject to a criminal investigation. As a result, this inspection did not examine the circumstances of the incident. Dr Gary Bell is an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist and Executive Coach at Cognacity in central London as well as having his own private practice. Serenity House are very privileged to have access to his services on an advisory basis. y. He became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 1985 and became a Fellow in 2000.

Staff felt able to raise concerns and issues with management. We found relatives were clear about the process for raising concerns and were confident that they would be listened to. However, the complaints process not on display and therefore not everyone was able to access this. Rating at last inspection: Requires Improvement (Report Published). At our previous comprehensive inspection in October 2017 the service was rated overall requires improvement. We found a breach of Regulation 17 HSCA 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2010. to meet those needs. People had access to other healthcare professionals such as a dietician and GP and were supported to eat enough to keep them healthy. People had access to drinks during the day and had choices at mealtimes and where people had special dietary requirements we saw that these were provided for.
